Many experts agree that completing EMU requires more risk sharing across borders. But what do European citizens think about it? A team from the University of Amsterdam coordinated a project surveying European citizens’ attitudes towards cross-border risk sharing in the domain of unemployment insurance.

The results, which will be presented at this event by prof. Frank Vandenbroucke, indicate that there might be more support for cross-border risk-sharing than the political debate suggests; but the actual level of support crucially depends on the exact design of the proposed policies.
