  • Profile

I am a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and affiliated with the program group Institutions, Inequalities and Life courses (IIL). My research interests include family sociology, life course research, young adulthood, and quantitative data anlysis.

In my PhD project, I study heterogeneity in leaving home. I do this at different levels of analysis using advanced quantitative methods. In my first paper, I study how early home leaving among young adults from non-intact families could be explained. For this paper, I use longitudinal data from the German Socio-Economic (SOEP). In my second paper, I also use data from SOEP to study the link between leaving and returning home with an innovative measure for off-time transitions. In my third paper, I examine the effects of study finance changes in the Netherlands on leaving the parental home and study enrolment. This paper uses register data of Statistics Netherlands. In my fourth paper, I use ESS data in a pseudo-panel design to explain cross-national differences in leaving the parental home.

My PhD project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Matthijs Kalmijn and Dr. Thomas Leopold.

I hold a Bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences, major: Social Sciences (University College Utrecht) and a Research Master's degree in Social Sciences (University of Amsterdam).
