Hester is a PhD candidate in Urban Geography at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research. She works at Research and Statistics of the city of Amsterdam. The topic of the PhD thesis is closely related to the daily work for the municipality. The thesis she is working on is about the changes in residential (stated and revealed) preferences in staying or moving out of the city. The thesis is a broadening and deepening of the daily work at Research and Statistics wich is mainly focused on housing and demograpy in the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam. It makes use of the datasets that she and her colleagues collect and compile like the bianual survey 'Living in the metropolitan region of Amsterdam' and the residential mobility dataset within the CBS-microdata.
