Maria Eismann is an external PhD candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) of the University of Amsterdam and is affiliated with the programme group Institutions, Inequalities and Life courses (IIL). She conducts her research in the theme group Work and Retirement at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) in The Hague.

In her PhD project "Late-Life Labour Market Decisions in a Couple Context", Maria aims to unravel how older workers' labour market behaviour and retirement decisions are influenced by their partners. Maria takes a multi-actor approach in which workers and their partners are both seen as active participants in the retirement decision-making process.
