    Karin van de Sande is since January 2013 active within the research funding advice team of the UvA-HvA Technology Transfer Office. The team advises UvA and HvA researchers about research funding possibilities and supports funding applications.

    Karin van de Sande provides support for applications, training en advice to several research institutes of the Faculty of Science: SILS (together with Annette Dirac), HIMS (idem), IoP en ILLC (together with Maren Pannemann).

    Karin has worked for the UvA since 2003, initially as Manager Research and Acquisition for SILS, later at the Technology Transfer Office, where she worked on patent applications and Business Development and currently is active in the area of research funding advice. Previously, she worked at the University of York as manager of the Arabidopsis functional genomics project GARNet.

    Her scientific background consists of a post-doc (as recipient of a Marie Curie fellowship in FP5) at the University of York, where she carried out research on the branching of plants in the model plant Arabidopsis. Before this, she did her PhD research at the University of Wageningen, where she carried out research on the role of the early noduline gene ENOD40 on the formation of symbiotic root nodules on the roots of leguminous  plants (she was a regular visitor of the MPI for Plant Breeding  Research in Cologne to carry out experiments for this project).
