Crash courses in various methods-AISSR Flying Circus

In March, the Methods Expertise Center of the AISSR offers the annual Flying Circus with the following crash courses. Locations will be provided later on.

If less than four people are interested in a course, we try to direct them to other institutions or we give them personal advice rather than organizing a crash course, though. Our courses are for free for AISSR members and open to a limited number of Research Master students and teachers who are not AISSR members.

Introduction to R, descriptive statistics and regression basics {Jeroen Bruggeman}

Atlas.ti introduction {Gerben Moerman}

29.03 , 10:00-13:00, (REC JK3.03B) 

Topics: getting started, translating research questions to technical questions, basic explanation of the software, code-retrieve, using the network tool.

Atlas.ti advanced {Gerben Moerman}

29.03, 14:00-17:00, (REC JK3.03B) 

Topics: coding and annotating video and audio; queries; setting up team analysis; advanced use of network.

Methods courses organised by other institutions

  • For Big Data and Machine Learning, SURFsara organizes a bootcamp at April 10, see their website https://surfresearchbootcamp.nl
  • For Mandalay (a reference management tool) there is a course offered by the library; no registering necessary. 08.03, 13:00-14:00 REC B3.11
