Alexandra Vasileva explored the development of the Russian political economy over the past 25 years in a comparative perspective with the other BRIC countries (Brazil, India and China). Vasileva focused on the main characteristic of Russian capitalism, patrimonialism, particularly in relation to the interactions between the state and small firms.
