Carolina Maurity Frossard is a PhD candidate at the Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development Studies of the University of Amsterdam. She joined the Public-private security assemblages and citizenship (SECURCIT) project in 2014, fresh out of her Master’s. Carolina's research explores urban security arrangements in Recife, Northeastern Brazil, in order to unpack how they reconfigure experiences, enactments, and ideas of citizenship in the city.

In 2013, she graduated from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she completed the MA programme in Development Studies, with a Major in Social Policy for Development. Her Research Paper resulted from an ethnographic exploration of the mega-event-induced urban operation that has reshaped the harbour region of Rio de Janeiro – the researcher’s hometown.

She holds a BA in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), and has worked in the field through different international organizations, such as the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, and Médecins Sans Frontières Brazil.
