Ali de Regt was associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Amsterdam. She retired in October 2006. She is still a researcher of the Amsterdam School of Social Science Research. She wrote extensively about relations between family members in connection to developments of the welfare state. Her latest research focus was on formal education, especially on the role of parents in the schooling of their offspring.
Ali de Regt teaches as a guest lecturer in various sociology courses .
