In my PhD project, I'm combining lab-experiments and field studies to investigate how and under which conditions racial biases affect decisions in organizations. In specific, I'm studying how information is processed when evaluating job applications of ethnic minorities. Furthermore, I’m looking into the role of social influence in discriminatory hiring decisions. The project aims to not only shed light on mechanisms leading to stereotyping and discriminatory behavior, but also to develop and implement behavior change interventions which target cognitive control and motivation to improve biased decision making.
