ACES devotes a key share of its budget to supporting 2,5 year targeted interdisciplinary research projects. These projects are led by ACES affiliates from at least two faculties and address major societal challenges as they play out in a European context, as well as urgent issues concerning the dynamics and direction of contemporary Europe. The first batch of three projects, all co-led by member of the Governing Board, started in 2019 and are concluded in 2021. The next batch of projects are due to start 1 July 2021.

The three selected projects are:

Emotions in European Politics: Affective Dynamics and Complex Societal Challenges
