ACES wishes to congratulate Ben Knapen for his temporary appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Last month, it was announced that ACES’ advisory board member, Ben Knapen (CDA), will become temporary Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Sigrid Kaag who resigned over the chaotic evacuation of Dutch personnel from Afghanistan.
Ben Knapen

He is the second member of the ACES Advisory Board to become a temporary Minister in the caretaker government, following our founding Chair Tom de Bruijn, who remains temporary Minister of International Trade and Overseas Development. Tom also briefly served this week as temporary Minister of Foreign Affairs.

They both join Frank Vandenbroucke, founding member of the ACES Governing Board, who became Belgian Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and Vice-Premier in October 2020.
