Matthew Desmond is a Pulitzer Prize–winning sociologist and professor at Princeton University, best known for his research on poverty, housing insecurity, and inequality in the United States.
He is the founder of the Eviction Lab, a pioneering research group that combines large-scale data, ethnographic research, and public engagement to study eviction and housing instability, and to inform policy and public debate.
Desmond is the author of the award-winning book Evicted and Poverty, by America, which bring social-scientific research into conversation with lived experience and policy-making.
