    Martin Elvanyus De Porres is a PhD candidate in the Moving Matters program group at the Department of Anthropology and the AISSR, University of Amsterdam.

    His background is primarily in journalism, particularly in East Nusa Tenggara, Eastern Indonesia, where he served as a journalist and editor for the ‘Ekonomi Kerakyatan NTT’ newspaper.

    His previous master's research, completed at the Department of Anthropology, Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, focused on land conflicts between indigenous communities and religious-based corporate plantations in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Prior to joining the AISSR, he was a short story writer and a part-time lecturer at the Ledalero Institute of Philosophy and Creative Technology.
