I am an urban ethnographer with a background in anthropology, development geography, and mobility studies. My research focuses on informal transport and the unequal distribution of mobility, accessibility, and (social) infrastructures.
My PhD project looked at cycle-rickshaw mobilities and infrastructural mega-projects in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and explored how the legacy of (colonial) modernity continues to shape labour relations, mobility landscapes and urban imaginaries.
In my current postdoctoral position within the COMMON_ACCESS research project, I study how suburban and rural communities in the Netherlands seek to (re)claim accessibility as a common good amidst processes of privatization, commercialization and welfare state retrenchment.
I also serve as an editor for the anthropological journal Etnofoor.
