Do you have a degree from another UvA faculty or Dutch University? On this page, you will find the entry requirements for the Master’s in Business Information Technology Management. Since the Master’s is new, and we want to guarantee an interactive programme, we apply a selection procedure. We assess your application based on both the entry requirements and additional selection criteria.

Entry requirements

We will evaluate your eligibility based on your academic background. 

  • Your academic Bachelor’s degree

    If you wish to apply for this Master’s, you are expected to hold an academic Bachelor's or Master’s degree where you have obtained the following knowledge and skills:     

    • At least 6 EC in modelling and programming skills;     
    • At least 6 EC knowledge of information systems;     
    • At least 15 EC in academic research skills, including at least 10 EC in quantitative research skills.    

    Additional recommended Business courses (intermediate/advanced) in at least 2 of the following fields would be:   

    • strategy 
    • international management
    • organisation
    • marketing
    • leadership 
    • entrepreneurship  
    • organisational psychology
  • Your academic minor from the UvA

    You can apply for our Master's in Business Information Technology Management without any further conditions such as a minimum GPA, if you have obtained:  

Selection

Meeting the entry requirements alone is just the first step. Besides the entry requirements, you need to meet the selection criteria. This means that your application will be compared with other applicants. The selection is based on your GPA, motivation letter and recommendation letter.

  • 1. Your Grade Point Average (GPA)

    We are looking for students who have shown academic potential to keep up with the high level and workload of the programme.

    Therefore, one of the criteria on which your application will be assessed is the Grade Point Average (GPA). We do not require a specific minimum GPA for this programme, but we will compare and assess the performance on all selection criteria to make an informed decision regarding placement into the programme.

  • 2. Your motivation letter

    Your motivation letter (max. one A4) can contribute to your admission if your academic results are in the lower regions of the requested entry requirements. It allows you to explain why you would be a good fit for the Master’s programme. 

  • 3. A recommendation letter

    Please provide a letter of recommendation from a previous or current supervisor, professor, co-worker, or peer who can describe the knowledge, skills, or aptitudes that you possess.
