Public lecture by prof. Max Boykoff
The talk explores which forms of climate communication work, where they work, and under what conditions. It begins with insights from news-based climate reporting and then turns to more experimental approaches, including the use of comedy as a way to create space for climate awareness and engagement in creative and constructive ways. Finally, the lecture broadens the perspective to consider how different communication strategies can connect across contexts and scales to encourage changes in attitudes and behaviour.
There will be time for questions and discussion after the lecture. It is open to students, staff and anyone interested in climate communication, media and public engagement.
The lecture will be delivered by Max Boykoff, Professor in the Environmental Studies Department at the University of Colorado Boulder in the United States, and Fellow in the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. His work focuses on the cultural politics of climate change and the role of media, public discourse and creative practices in shaping how societies understand and respond to environmental change.
