Public Policy (Economics)
Economies flourish when supported by strong institutions and effective government policies. In this track, we study public policy and its effects in the economy. The importance of good governance became clear during the COVID-19 pandemic, and remains visible today in for example debates on trade tariffs. At the same time, challenges such as climate change demand urgent governing. In this track, you learn to design economic policies and analyse their impacts on society. This is one of the tracks you can opt for in our Master's in Economics.

Is Public Policy for you?
- This specialisation track will help you understand how the government can improve economic outcomes with good policies, and what challenges policymakers face when trying to achieve them. Emphasis is on applied theory and econometrics.
- You will learn to analyse and design economic policies that address social challenges, like climate change, market order, income inequality, education, and healthcare. Creating a more efficient, as well as inclusive and equitable society.
- You can develop expertise in your area of choice, ranging from competition policy to environmentally responsible resource management. Focus is on resource efficiency and total welfare.
